Who we are
Cartolog is a map application service provider. Its hosted solution, Cartolog MapApp,
is a powerful, easy to use map application that site and application developers
can seamlessly embed in their products and services.
Cartolog’s mission is to facilitate ubiquitous use of maps in internet and
mobile applications by providing programmers and developers the means and tools
to accomplish the task. It is Cartolog’s goal to become the leading provider
of map application services to our customers.
The idea behind the company
A map is a geographical representation of data. A map application, also referred
to as a geographical search engine, provides user

There are three types of maps: regular maps, map with overlays and map application.
Regular maps are either paper maps or static maps, e.g., an image and a map with
overlays is a map with markers laid in specific coordinates.
A map application is an independent application.
It requires design, setting up a working environment, coding, debugging, adding
new features, debugging again, styling with layouts and graphics, setting up the
web servers for hosting, managing databases, handling scalability, optimization,
monitoring performance while still supporting flexibility and modularity. Maps are

map application platform that enables web site developers and site owners
to embed interactive geographical applications that display
geo-tagged content visually on a map. The service makes redundant the need

portmanteau
of the Greek words "chartis" = map and "logia" = "study of".
